UFO -- Quilt CJ's window

UFO Quilt

This had stayed on its UFO status for about 2 years now and it's about time I change it's status to FO.  I will put the instructions on how to put the three layers (backing, batting, quilt top) together on my next post.

4 Sided Star Applique

The design is appliqued together using satin stitch over raw edges.  The 3 layers (top which is made up of background fabric and the appliques; batting, backing) are quilted together in one step as the raw edges of the applique shapes are finished with satin stitches.  There is a one inch seam allowance on all 4 sides of the block for sewing the blocks together later.

The Cross

The formation of the Cross in the design was unintentional and I am happy that the Cross is there.  It reminds me that lots of times I'm so preoccupied with all the things that I do but God is always near and ever present.

The design was inspired by a lowly wild flower that grows rampant in early spring.  I admire its beauty and yet I pull it out of the garden.   The name of the wild flower is Cow Vetch.
